Apply for Argentina’s digital nomad visa

November 22, 2023

In recent years, Argentina has emerged as an increasingly popular destination for digital nomads seeking a blend of cultural richness, vibrant lifestyle, and convenient remote work accommodations. The country has recognized the value these global professionals bring and has introduced a digital nomad visa, making it easier than ever to live and work here.

If you’re considering traveling to Argentina with your remote job, it’s important to understand exactly what the digital nomad visa offers you — and how to apply!

What is Argentina’s digital nomad visa?

The digital nomad visa allows remote workers from outside Argentina to live and work inside Argentina, provided they are not working for the Argentine market and/or for an Argentine employer.

The visa is valid for 180 days, with the option to renew for another 180 days — making it one year in total.

As a digital nomad in Argentina, you do not need to pay taxes to the country.

Digital nomad perks in Argentina

When you come to Argentina as a digital nomad, you’ll receive a myriad of perks from the official organization for Digital Nomads of Argentina.

📌 These include:

  • A gift card of up to $500 that can be used toward tourist, gastronomic, and wellness experiences across the country.
  • Discounted stays at Selina.
  • Discounted membership at WeWork

To apply for the perks, fill out the form here under “Benefits.”

Additionally, the Argentine tourism department offers a “Welcome Kit” for digital nomads upon arriving in Buenos Aires.

📌 The kit includes:

  • Discounted ticket with Tienda León, a shuttle that goes from Ezeiza International Airport to the Puerto Madero station, only a 5-minute walk from the Retiro train station.
  • Discounts on select hotels and hostels for your first nights in Buenos Aires.
  • SIM card for your cell phone.
  • SUBE card to use the public transportation system, including subway, train, and bus.

To order your kit, fill out the short form here under “Kit de Bienvenida.” You need to order it at least seven days before your arrival and pick it up from a designated e-locker at Ezeiza International Airport.

Who should apply for the digital nomad visa?

It’s important to note that visitors from most countries (including the United States, Canada, Australia, and many countries across South America and the EU) can enter Argentina for up to 90 days without applying for a visa.

You can renew your tourist visa by simply leaving the country and re-entering. Every time you re-enter the country, you will have another 90 days to stay in Argentina.

💭 So, if I can continue to renew my tourist visa, do I need a digital nomad visa?

In short, no! You can easily stay in Argentina as a tourist. However, applying for the digital nomad visa removes the hassle of having to get your passport re-stamped every 90 days.

You are eligible to apply for the digital nomad visa if you are both 1) a remote professional working for a non-Argentine employer and/or working outside the Argentine market, and 2) a citizen of a country that doesn’t require a tourist visa to enter Argentina.
